Summer hike in Yosemite

Summer Hike, oil on canvas, 48 x 60 inches

This one was inspired by a photo I took this summer while Dave and I were hiking in Yosemite. We were on the way to see the most magnificent waterfalls I've ever seen before.  Thanks to a few snow days last week, I was able to finish it up.

Your painting are such an interesting take on the traditional landscape. Who are you inspired by, especially when it comes to your use of color?

Hi Julia!
I'm always inspired by Seurat, John Singer Sargent and all of the impressionists. I also love Wolf Kahn for his bold use of color. I try to push the hues that I see to be a little more vibrant. Makes me happy. It's like visual tasting. Thanks for asking!
