Ballerina Cake
I haven't been able to get away from baking cakes this spring! Maybe that's why I've also needed to go on a diet. Here is a sweet little cake that I made for a lovely little lady turning 5. A ballerina is what she wanted and a ballerina is what she got! Here are the pictures.Note the pink ballet slippers and pretty pearl necklace! She holds a flower bloom in her hands.

A daisy cake for my Carla
Carla's birthday was in early April. She is one of my newest friends, as we met when she interviewed me for an article in the paper a little while back. Carla threw an amazing wine and dessert party in honor of another year and a new beginning. She was the hostess with the mostess. Since nobody should make her own birthday cake, I had the pleasure of baking for my friend who is no stranger to excellent cakes. She owns and operates Magpie Bakery in all of her spare time. Here's how everything turned out. She was happy, so I was happy too!

Chickadee bon-bons
Happy Easter! Peep Peep!
I got into the springtime spirit by making some chickadee bon-bons. They're my homemade version of a cake pop, and yes you can google the recipe and the idea from Bakerella. I have browsed and browsed her cake pop book in the stores! I wish I had one for my coffee table-- but then again, that would make me hungrier for cake. With a few exceptions, I've been doing pretty darn well on my little diet so I don't need the temptation. After 20 days, I've lost 4 lbs! Yeah!
To me, Easter and spring are all about the amazing resilience of people, nature and the world as a whole. It seems like the planet is celebrating a new season, a new day, and new life with every little bloom and every little leaf. I'm not sure what that has to do with chocolate-covered cake in the shape of chicks, but I'm pretty sure they'll make the little cousins happy after an egg hunt! Not only do they taste good, but they were fun to make this morning while I procrastinated on my homework project a little bit longer.
